                                            ICA Information booklets

ICA invests tremendous efforts and infinite resources in reducing cancer morbidity and mortality by:

  • Making up-to-date cancer-related information available to the general public, particularly, regarding prevention and early detection of prevalent cancers such as breast cancer, colorectal cancer and prostate cancer.

  • Preventing the harmful effects of smoking.

  • Mitigating the harmful effects of sun exposure.

  • Promoting early detection of skin cancer.

  • Promoting proper nutrition and a healthy lifestyle.

  • Seeking to encourage people to adopt a healthy lifestyle and maintain an "energetic balance" by avoiding obesity and partaking in regular physical activity, which may reduce the risk of developing cancer diseases.

ICA educational activity:

  • Launching public information campaigns, and publishing informative material that is distributed in hundreds of thousands of copies, in Hebrew, Arabic and Russian.

  • Launching media campaigns that place an emphasis on unique sectors of the population and Israel's geographical periphery, organizing seminars and conferences, training workshops, lectures and professional training sessions.

  • These campaigns are conducted in different settings: schools, community centers, the workplace, healthcare funds, IDF military bases, ICA branches and other locations.

ICA's special information hotline service - Telemeida:

  • Operated by volunteers headed by Mrs. Nurit Zin, the information hotline has been operating for many years and serves as a reliable and most up-to-date telephone hotline for cancer diseases, treatment modalities and rehabilitation in Israel.

  • The hotline operates in Hebrew, Arabic and Russian.

ICA's Resource Center:

  • Houses up-to-date professional literature and provides a link to many databases in Israel and around the globe.

  • Staffed by skilled information specialists who are trained to search international online databanks and are updated on crucial information that patients require, including information regarding the clinical protocols conducted in Israel.

  • ICA is proud to serve as Israel's leading source of information in the fight against cancer.

ICA Online, Facebook and Social Networks Activity:

  • ICA is very active on the internet, and considers it to be a significant tool to deliver information, content and messages and to communicate with the public.

  • The renewed ICA website launched at the end of 2010 contains over 8,000 content pages. The website provides extensive and reliable information for cancer patients and their families on different types of cancer, treatment, rehabilitation and quality of life for patients.

  • The number of forums on the website has grown and now stands at 14 forums, on various topics, managed by leading experts who supervise forum activity on a voluntary basis and do so with great commitment.   Similarly, two professional, members-only forums operate on the website, enabling internal discussions: a members-only forum for breast cancer professionals and a members-only forum for ICA information instructors.

  • Much thought has gone into customizing the website to search engines, and and due to that, as well as a Google promotion the ICA received in the form of a donation, the number of visitors on the website has increased by about 20%, and is currently estimated at 60,000 entries each month.

  • ICA's website in English was recently upgraded and is updated on a regular basis. Upgraded websites in Russian and Arabic will be launched next.

  • ICA runs a Facebook page entitled "The Israel Cancer Association - Steps to a Healthy Life".  The page is designed to deliver messages regarding cancer prevention and early detection and promote events such as Awareness Months, the Jerusalem Marathon, Families Hike on Passover and more.  As of November 2019, the page boasts over 70,000 followers.
