Hope for Life project provides tutoring for child cancer patients throughout Israel

 

  • Children coping with cancer are forced to miss many school days and may fall behind in their schoolwork. Failing to meet their academic requirements makes it extremely difficult for them to function during the intervals between treatments and recovery. This can lead to great frustration and deliver a severe blow to the child's confidence and self-esteem.


  • These young patients undergo many treatments and are hospitalized for prolonged periods, confined to their home due to the need for isolation to protect their wekened immune system from inrections that could endanger their lives.

  • ICA has set up this unique project specifically tailored to these children's needs, by assigning qualified teachers or students to children from kindergarten through high school. These specially trained teachers tutor the children and assist them in catching up with their schoolwork.

  • The tutor meets with the child for 6 to 10 weekly hours at the child's home and remains in close contact with the child's teachers, making sure that the child completes all of the missed schoolwork.

  • The relationship with the tutor has an extremely positive influence on the child, his family, and their relationship with their peers. In addition to assisting the child with their schoolwork, the tutor serves as an older brother figure and close friend, with whom the child can discuss everything and confide in freely.

  • The "Hope for Life" project provides assistance to hundreds of child cancer patients throughout the country.

 Kindly contact us should you wish to contribute to this project and support children with cancer scholastically - US $2,100 per child, including training and financing the tutor. Please note that all donations are transferred in full to the project (no overhead is taken).
