National Umbilical Cord Blood Bank

The blood bank was established as a joint venture of the Magen David Adom Blood Service, the Wolfson Medical Center and the Hadassah Medical Organization, with funding from a generous donation provided by the Friends of the ICA in the UK, headed by Vered Aaron.

This ICA-funded national service is operated by the Magen David Adom Blood Service. ICA's financial assistance has helped purchase a freezer for preserving umbilical cord blood dedicated to the memory of Natalie Shaya of blessed memory and has also funded a part-time position for Dr. Ronit Goldman-Levi, who serves as Lab Manager.

A special certificate of appreciation was recently awarded to the ICA for its longtime support of the National Umbilical Cord Blood Bank. The certificate was awarded to the ICA Vice Chairman and former Director General, Mrs. Miri Ziv by the Magen David Adom Blood Service Director, Prof. Ayelet Shenar.
