The Israel Cancer Association Activity During the COVID-19 Pandemic

The Israel Cancer Association updates its continued activity in support of cancer patient, survivors and their families, in light of the new limitations announced to prevent the spreading of the coronavirus in Israel.

The ICA Teletmicha® hotline continues to operate as usual, providing immediate mental health counseling for cancer patients and their relatives who are in emotional distress.

The service is staffed by social workers as well as professionals from various fields, such as: Nursing, rehabilitation, sexuality, etc. Tel: 1-800-200-444.

Simultaneously, the ICA Telemeida® call center continues to operate 24 hours a day for the benefit of patients, their families and the general public, in Hebrew, Arabic and Russian. The Hope Hospice service and the Clore Hostel for patients continue their operation according to the Ministry of Health directives.

The ICA website uploaded an Information Page for Oncology and hematology Patients, brought to you by the Israeli Society for Clinical Oncology and Radiation Therapy (ISCORT) and prepared by Prof. Ido Wolf, Head of the Oncology Division at Sourasky Medical Center in Tel Aviv and an ICA consultant. The page was translated into Arabic and Russian by the medical staff at the Oncology Department of Galil Medical Center in Nahariya (it is best to log onto the Ministry of Health website for updates.)

As you are well aware, cancer patients may be at a higher risk of contagion and complications, therefore, it was decided to switch the ICA’s Rehabilitation and Welfare Department into an emergency mode.

The ICA activities in the branches and support centers around the country, which include, among other things, support groups, workshops, recreational activities, seminars, activities for child cancer patients, have been suspended until further notice.

The ICA is a non-profit organization providing service to patients and survivors at no cost, relying solely on public contributions and without governmental assistance whatsoever.
