ICA welcomes 44 Students from the Dutch University of Leiden

The Israel Cancer Association had the pleasure of welcoming 44 medical and biomedical science students from the prestigious Dutch university of Leiden on Monday, May 2, 2011.

The students were all members of the internationalization committee of their faculty. Indeed, as medicine and biomedical sciences lead to increasingly global professions, their university greatly values internationalization among students.

The internationalization committee was therefore asked to organize an annual educational trip to get acquainted with the state of affairs in foreign hospitals, medical faculties, pharmaceutical companies and research institutes.

As Israel is known for its high quality medical standards as well as for its leading position in research in the medical and biomedical field, the group found Israel an interesting location for their educational trip.

They chose to visit the Israel Cancer Association as it is a prime leader in all subjects related to cancer and were welcomed by ICA’s Director General, Mrs. Miri Ziv, who gave a very interesting introduction on the Association.

They also had the pleasure of meeting and listening to lectures of Dr. Ronit Saatchi-Fainaro, Dr. Ido Wolf, and Professor Shai Izraeli, three leading researchers who have been maintaining a strong relationship with ICA as they received assistance from the Israel Cancer Association fellowship and, as a result of this much-needed support, attained results with universal implications.
