At the 11th Annual Meeting of the Israeli Society for Clinical Oncology and Radiation Therapy (ISCORT-11), held from January 9-13, 2012, Prof. Eliezer Robinson, Chairman of the Israel Cancer Association, was presented with an Award of Appreciation lauding his longstanding contribution to the Israel Oncology Service, and in recognition of his public activities.
Prof. Eliezer Robinson began his career as an oncologist in 1957 at Hadassah Medical Center.
In 1968, he established the Oncology Center at Rambam Medical Center and developed the field of oncology in the northern region of Israel. He served as Vice Chairman of the Israel Cancer Association from 1971-1995.
In 1996 he was appointed Chairman of the Israel Cancer Association, a position in which he has been serving on a volunteer basis ever since.
Prof. Robinson also served as Chairman of the Israeli Society for Clinical Oncology and Radiation Therapy (ISCORT) and is the current President of the National Council for Prevention, Diagnosis and Cancerous Diseases.
Prof. Robinson has published over 200 articles. Additionally, he was the 2002 recipient of the Haifa Award of Merit (Yakir Haifa) for his accomplishments on behalf of Haifa as well as the 2003 recipient of the Israeli Ministry of Health Prize for Excellence for his life's work. In 2009 he was granted the Israel Medical Association Award for his community work.
In 2011 Prof. Robinson was appointed as member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Cancer Survivorship Committee. Prof. Robinson is the only non-U.S. member of the Committee.
