During the conference, a certificate of appreciation was awarded to Professor Gregory Connolly, Director for the Center for Global Tobacco Control and Professor of the Practice of Public Health in the Department of Society, Human Development and Health at Harvard School of Public Health. The certificate was presented by Tel Aviv University, the Ministry of Health and the Israel Cancer Association.
Professor Connolly conducts basic and applied research on tobacco products, focusing on the contribution to dependence and abuse liability. His research seeks to establish a science base for tobacco product regulation.
Additionally, he oversees research projects in several foreign countries and at the international level works to establish local science essential for the adoption of effective tobacco control policies and programs and evaluating their impact on public health. Finally, he conducts and directs research on the hazards of secondhand smoke, links between exposure and disease and measures to control secondhand smoke.
