The Israel Cancer Association joined the myriad of activities held on Good Deeds Day marked on Tuesday, March 11, 2014. This is an annual event assembling hundreds of thousands of people throughout Israel to celebrate the spirit of giving and doing good deeds.
As part of this endeavor, many volunteers arrived at Israel Cancer Association branches across Israel and helped conduct this noteworthy activity and we thank each and every one of them for their contribution.
An overview of some of the activities held at ICA branches throughout Israel:
Dimona
A group from the Israel Prison Service in Ktziot and ICA volunteers participated in this commendable activity. Volunteers restored and upgraded the garden at the Support Center by trimming the hedges of the plants and planting new ones.
Gardening tools and plants were donated.
10 "Look Good....Feel Better" volunteers visited 50 homes of female patients and survivors and provided them with beauty care treatments.
Mrs. Nurit Koroloker coordinated the activity on Good Deeds Day.
Dimona Branch Chairman, Mr. Avraham Azarzar, thanked all those who took part in this important day and participated in a noteworthy activity that helped to enrich community life.

Jerusalem
40 soldiers from the IDF Combat Intelligence Collection Corps held a happening for patients at Hadassah Medical Center: a mask and noisemaker workshop for children and games for adults.
All equipment and related expenses were donated by the IDF.
The soldiers' commander initiated this activity. Her friend Mr. Kobi Zemach died of cancer. At the end of the happening, an event was held in his memory.
A Purim party was held at the ICA "Strong Together" Center in Jerusalem with assistance from the ICA Jerusalem Branch staff.
A large and devoted volunteer staff arrived at the Ministry of Public Security. They designed the Center hall, brought quiches and pastries that the employees had baked. In addition, a karaoke performance was held and a festive atmosphere prevailed.
Migdal Ha'emek
Branch volunteers produced a Healthy Lifestyle Day featuring diverse lectures; knitted hats of the Branch's knitting club were on display. Branch volunteer Mrs. Emmanuela Vitok provided cosmetic treatment to patients and survivors and a volunteer hair stylist did their hair. Gardening was done at the new Branch and it was also painted.
Kiryat Shmuel
Volunteers baked hamentashen and handed them out at the Oncology Institute at Assuta Medical Center Lev Hamifratz.
Tiberias
50 patients, survivors and volunteers were hosted by the Caesarea Hotel in Tiberias, for a "Day of Pampering" which will include breakfast and lunch, lectures on beauty care, a fashion show and a dance. The hotel sponsored the entire event.
Givatayim
A public information booth was set up at Rivka preschool as part of the happening for the community initiated by the Hatzofim (Scouts) Youth Movement of Givatayim.
Modi'in
A happening for families of patients (180 people) took place in the evening, featuring a magician, juggling act, and mishloach manot for Purim.
Kfar Saba
Volunteers set up a booth at the Arim Shopping Mall and sold toys, hats, books, key chains and other items that were donated.
Mishlochei manot were prepared for soldiers and their families, as well as for participants in the Branch's support group. The mishlochim were prepared and distributed by students from Nof Zurim School in Zur Yigal where this activity has become a tradition. Students, their parents and teachers took part in this activity.
The Branch's façade was restored by school students who painted and whitewashed the building and cultivated the garden.
This activity was organized by veteran volunteer Mrs. Miriam Lallouche.
Petach Tikva
The Branch organized mishlochei manot for patients.
Hod Hasharon
A public information and education booth was stationed at a happening held by the city's municipality. Additionally, students distributed sweets to patients.
Volunteers baked hamentashen and distributed them to patients at the Oncology Institute, Assuta Medical Center Lev Hamifratz.
Naharyia
Branch volunteers went on a trip to Jerusalem.
Safed
Branch volunteers embarked on a trip together with the employees of the Oncology Institute of Rebecca Sieff Medical Center.
Kiryat Bialik
Branch volunteers heard a lecture on giving.
Kiryat Tivon
ICA volunteers were invited to a happening and dinner organized by Hadassah Internal Medicine Ward.
Kiryat Motzkin
Volunteers participated in a community happening and helped remodel homes of patients and survivors.
Kiryat Shemona
Volunteers joined school students in a joint activity for patients and survivors.
