Instead of staying home to watch the Soccer World Cup on TV, hundreds of participants filled the Binyanei Ha'uma International Convention Center in Jerusalem, and enjoyed a magical evening.
At the entrance to the event were stands displaying unique handicrafts, some of them made by cancer patients and survivors who participated in ICA's workshops held in Jerusalem.
The atmosphere, the songs and the stories of the Greek Islands, swept the participants off their feet, and they hit the dance floor.
Jerusalem's mayor, Mr. Nir Barekat, who honored the event with his presence, congratulated Advocate Simcha Ethia Chairperson of the ICA's Jerusalem Branch, for her long-standing volunteer work at the ICA, and cited her commitment to the city of Jerusalem, a city of mutual responsibility, and personal commitment to assisting the ICA. The mayor also shared the story of his personal loss that he experienced upon the demise of a young family member, and emphasized the extent to which this is "our common battle".
