The Palliative Care Service was established about two years ago at Ha'Emek Medical Center, thanks to the assistance of the ICA.

Dr. Ehud Paz and Mrs. Ketziya Cohen, Nurse Service Coordinator, comprise the staff of the Palliative Care Service which accompanies patients and family members during the advanced stages of the disease and provide both medical counseling and emotional support, enhancing patients' quality of life in the time that is left.

Ms. Shirli Lanes, whose mother was treated at the Palliative Care Service and succumbed to cancer 3 months ago, also joined the Palliative Care Service staff and ran along with them.

Mrs. Ketziya, the Palliative Care Service Nurse wrote to the ICA:
"Over the past two years we have treated hundreds of patients and thousands of family members.  As a token of gratitude and appreciation to the Israel Cancer Association, we have chosen to participate in the 2016 Jerusalem Marathon along with the ICA".
