On January 19, 2016, ICA USA hosted "An Elegant Evening of Socializing and Science" to honor Israeli Scientist, Dr. Tomer Kalisky, whose research "Single cell genomic characterization of pediatric renal cancer stem cells" was kindly funded by a fellowship donated by ICA USA Supporter, Mrs. Lois Pope.
Mrs. Lois Pope
Mrs. Pope generously opened her home to a group of 50 ICA USA Donors who had an opportunity to meet Dr. Kalisky and hear about his research first-hand. Dr. Kalisky spoke briefly about his background, cancer stem cells and the technologies he uses to identify them, and finished with a success story - his research team identified a new gene panel that they want to use for early detection and targeted gene therapy for cancer in children.
