The ICA received a generous donation provided by Nancy and Peter Brown, ICA USA dedicated board members, from the Estate of their beloved mother and mother-in-law, the late Bernice L. Weinstein.
Nancy and Peter decided to allocate the donation to three 2016 ICA research grants, which were carefully selected by the ICA Research Committee, comprising Israel's leading investigators and clinicians: "Diagnostic and clinical impact of Positron Emission Tomography/Magnetic Resonance (PET/MR) Imaging in women with uterine cervical cancer" under the direction of Prof. David Groshar of Assuta Medical Center, "Glioblastoma therapy via cell depletion of the mitochondrial protein VDAC1 reverses cancer cell oncogenic properties" under the direction of Prof. Varda Shoshan-Barmatz of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, and "Characterization of Spironolactone as a potent inhibitor of cancer stem cells" under the direction of Prof. Michal Goldberg of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
The ICA wishes to express its sincere gratitude for the generous donation bequeathed from the estate; the Association has dedicated a page in the ICA "Book of Life" to the memory of Bernice.
