Meet Isaac Katz, 45, father of three, resident of Kiryat Haim, Israel Railways employee, former smoker and sea aficionado. Three years ago he almost died from cigarette smoking when he was carried far out to sea with a surfboard, on the brink of exhaustion.
That same day when he met the doctor, he understood that he needed to choose between a healthy life and cigarettes and decided then and there to quit smoking and adopt a healthy lifestyle. Isaac Katz became a determined and courageous man who regularly engaged in sports; with the aim of encouraging the general population to quit too, he intends on becoming the first person to embark on a 480 km challenge in 7 different fields of sports, from Metulla to Eilat and raise funds for the ICA.
He will engage in the following fields of sports: cycling, running, swimming, rollerblading, skateboarding, stand up paddle surfing and surf ski (ocean kayak) paddling.

Isaac Katz recounts: "Over the past three years, my life has changed. From a regular smoker with very little health and sports awareness, I became a non-smoker, engaging in sports activities the greater part of the day, and instilling motivation in many people who would become swept up into the world of sports, a healthy lifestyle, and healthy diet, along with me". This challenge is being launched thanks to the generous donation of Rosen & Meents in the form of their assorted brand products (stand up paddle board, kayak, bicycle, riding gear and other professional equipment), Funkier, will contribute riding wear, Billabong Israel, will donate surf wear, INOV8 will provide running shoes, Isrotel Sport Club Hotel Eilat will be hosting participants at the end of the challenge, HIGH5 will provide professional nutrition, Kook International (importer of Carver, Triple 8, protective gear and helmets) will donate the skateboard and related equipment, Shoresh will provide unique hydration systems, sandals and more, Goldfish Sport - Race and Mass Sporting Events Entrepreneur and Producer will be in charge of project management and production and will also oversee the volunteer staff who will help make this dream become a reality.
With the approach of this journey set to be launched on 19 October 2016 and which will last two days, over the past year, he has been getting up before dawn every day, physically and emotionally training for about 6 hours, in a variety of different fields of sports towards the "Cross Israel - 7 Challenges" and even developed a fundraising campaign and provided the opportunity to join the challenge on HeadStart.
